The difference of education between western and Chinese parents is the western parents have a purpose to develop children's independent ability. For example, they send children to take part in the summer or winter camp. But the Chinese parents think the study is the most important thing for children. They hope their children can pay more attention to the study and ignore the ability development of them. Such difference just lead to cost different time to adapt the social environment for western and Chinese children when they grow up.
