There is an emerging trend that children are expected to be responsible for study only and that parents somehow believe that their children will pick up the skills of doing housework when they grow up. However, in my opinion, children should receive proper training on doing housework from earlier on in their life since this is an essential part of being a human being. Children are not machines for solving math problems or memorizing English vocabulary; they need to eat, talk and more importantly, play a indispensable role in the family. They ought to help out with chores such as cooking, washing dishes, vacuuming, mowing the yard and so on. Only in this way will the children not only develop the actual skills but also foster the habit of doing chores inside and outside the house as they grow up.
